ORANGE COUNTY, Florida. – Orange County resumes COVID-19 vaccinations at Barnett Park after service moved to Camping World Stadium two months ago due to high test demand.
Sandra Scott and her mother were some of the first to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in Barnett Park on Saturday. Scott said she almost missed the news about the move to the park.
“I checked my phone and Camping World was empty, now in Barnett Park, so I turned around,” said Scott.
District leaders announced they are bringing vaccinations back to the site after moving the shots to Camping World Stadium in August. At the time, officials said Barnett Park was seeing long lines to test and reach daily capacity. Officials added they wanted to ease traffic in the park and not prevent people from getting the vaccine.

This is because Florida is showing signs of improvement. According to the Florida Department of Health’s latest COVID-19 update, the state reported 25,792 new cases on Friday that occurred in the past week, bringing the total to 3,601,755 cases since the virus was first discovered on March 1, 2020 elevated. That is an average of 3,684 reported new infections per day.
The state’s positivity rate has also fallen to 4.8%, which is its lowest level since late June.
Confusion arose when moving back to Barnett Park. News 6 saw vehicles attempting to navigate the test and vaccination lines.
“I was in the back of the line down there and he [a site worker] had to come and pull me out of line, ”said Scott.
Despite the decline in cases, Scott and her mother said they weren’t taking any chances. They added that they were grateful that they could get their booster vaccinations at the county’s main vaccination center.
“We’re older people and there is too much of it going around and too many people aren’t wearing their masks and we have to protect ourselves because they don’t protect us,” she said.
Barnett Park is open for vaccinations and COVID testing daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The district also offers COVID tests daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. only in the Econ Soccer Complex
The last day of COVID testing on the former Clarcona Elementary School site is Sunday October 10th.
