ISRO offers a 12-day free online course on protecting biodiversity; Check details

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) offers a free online course for students. The 12-day course ‘Geoinformatics for Biodiversity Conservation Planning’ is carried out by the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) based in Dehradun, the ISRO center for remote sensing and geoinformatics. After completing the course, the students will be given certificates.

In its brochure, the IIRS stated that interested students can submit their application for the course by visiting the official website The last deadline for submitting the application is December 5th.

The free online course will be held from December 6th to 17th by faculty members of the IIRS. According to IIRS, the course will be most beneficial to professionals from central and state government agencies, private organizations, NGOs, students, and researchers engaged in environmental studies. Participants who hold 70 percent of the number of participants and complete the course will receive a certificate.

“Participants attending the course sessions through the IIRS YouTube channel should mark their attendance through the offline session, which is made available after 24 hours,” said IIRS.

In the course “Geoinformatics for Biodiversity Conservation Planning”, the participants learn, among other things, the applications of geographic information systems (GIS) in biodiversity protection planning, 3D characterization of forest biodiversity, cloud computing for forest monitoring and the like.

Step 2: On the home page, click on “Edusat” under “IIRS Outreach Program”, which you will find on the “REMOTE LEARNING” tab

Step 3: Click on the ‘Online Registration Form’ of the ‘Geoinformatics for Biodiversity Conservation Planning Course’

Step 4: Fill out the form as you fill out educational qualifications details

Step 5: After completing the form, click “Preview” and check the details

Step 6: Click Submit and print a hard copy for future reference.
